Wackiest Wagon Train in the West

Wackiest Wagon Train in the West

Imagine this: Gilligan’s Island. Only Gilligan isn’t Gilligan, he’s a man called Dusty. And instead of Skipper, Professor, Ginger, Mary Ann, and the Howells, it’s Andy, Mr. Callahan, Lulu, Betsy, and the Brookhavens. Also, they aren’t stranded. They aren’t even on an island. They’re traveling out west in a wagon train in a sad, sad attempt to recreate a hit show.

This briefly aired as a TV show called Dusty’s Trail. Briefly, as in three episodes. Hmm, you take Bob Denver and put him out west with a completely different cast while doing the same jokes they used on Gilligan’s Island. Now why wouldn’t a show like that do well? Beats me. Anyway, they combined all the episodes and called it a movie. Thus it was reborn as the glorious blockbuster hit The Wackiest Wagon Train in the West.

There is one mildly amusing scene where Dusty chases a wagon wheel, but other than that, I’m not sure I can recommend watching this movie unless you have a lot of free time on your hands with absolutely nothing better to do. It’s bad, but definitely more embarrassingly desperate than “so bad it’s good”.
